Boston's MFA approached Vern Associates to edit, design, and produce this first volume of a projected three-volume catalogue of the museum's justly famous French paintings collection.
Concept
In copy editing and styling the manuscript, we carefully accommodated all the special needs of a complex collection catalogue. Our editors worked with museum staff to resolve inconsistencies within the text and fine tuned the book's scholarly apparatus.
Design & Content
With two volumes still to be prepared in the future, our challenge was to devise specifications for this first volume that will showcase equally well works that shift the predominant orientation of reproductions from vertical to horizontal.
Production
Vern Associates managed production, from typesetting and layout through color correction, then to bound books.
The Result
Luxe specifications, fastidious attention to detail, and exceptionally fine printing make this collection catalogue a delight to behold and a valuable addition to the scholarly literature on French painting.
