In anticipation of the 125th anniversary of H. H. Richardson's masterpiece, we offered to help prepare a commemorative volume. The idea pleased the client so much, they decided to produce two!
Concept
Trinity Church's renown stems as much from its spiritual outreach as from the building itself. But how to blend them comfortably? We proposed two very different books: a large-format photography book that revels in Trinity's architecture and design; and an intimate, subtly illustrated collection of sermon excerpts.
Design & Content
The designers paid particular attention to ideas offered by our client when selecting, sequencing, and presenting pictures in ways that spark a recognition of peaceful or revelatory moments for parishioners and visitors alike.
Production
Trinity Church wanted the books to reflect the parish's recognition that a healthy church is a living, growing, changing "organism." Contemporary, fresh book design captures the essence of the subjects—whether through the open, light-filled pages of Means of Grace, Hope of Glory, or the quieter, more devotional Legacy of Love, which conveys a reflective, reverential feeling. Vern Associates ushered both publications through bound books.
The Result
Two publications of grace and substance that celebrate an important anniversary for a beloved Boston landmark. They continue to delight the thousands of people for whom Trinity Church is much more than just an architectural masterpiece.
